We started because the alternative was leaving a car at a garage for a day over one tyre. Nine years later the van carries more stock than most fast-fits keep on a shelf.
Size and postcode. The van is usually out already.
Price quoted before the van leaves. Nothing added at the kerb.

The first van was bought out of frustration. A puncture on the school run turned into a day off work, a recovery truck and a four-hour wait in a fast-fit for a job that takes forty minutes.
None of that was necessary. The tyre could have been fitted on the driveway before anybody left the house. The only reason it was not is that the whole trade is built around you bringing the vehicle to them.
So the model here is the other way round, and it has one consequence worth knowing: because we are paid for the job rather than the visit, we have no reason to find extra work while we are there. Nobody has ever been told their brakes look low by a tyre fitter on their own driveway.
In this trade the equipment is the only honest differentiator. Anyone can buy a van and a sign.
Not a hand spinner and not skipped. Every wheel is balanced on site before it goes back on.
Nuts done to the manufacturer figure. Over-torqued nuts warp discs and under-torqued ones come off.
Because half the driveways in this town are block paving with a slope on them.
Including run-flats and the common van fitments, carried rather than ordered.
Sensors read and reset on the job, so the light does not come back on halfway home.
Most of the winter work happens in the dark. Being visible is not optional.
Mobile fitting has a reputation problem and some of it is earned. These are the four we turn down, and why.
Tread damage under 6mm gets a plug-and-patch for £35. We lose the tyre sale and keep the customer.
Mismatched grip across an axle is a handling problem, and on all-wheel drive it puts load through the differential.
It is structural. Once it is cut or bulging the tyre is finished, whatever anybody tells you.
On a slope, on soft ground, or in live traffic, it gets moved or recovered first. That includes us saying no on the phone.
The people who answer the phone and turn up at the kerb. Ask for any of them by name.
Tell us the size and the postcode. We will give you the fitted price on the phone and a window, and the van does the rest.
